How to sell on OLX: account, listing and Przesyłka OLX
How to sell on OLX from the seller's side: the account, the listing, the charges, Przesyłka OLX, the transaction deadlines and how the money arrives.
To start selling on OLX you need an account confirmed by phone number, a listing in the right category and — if you want to send parcels — verified payout details.
The rest follows from one decision: whether you sell privately or as a business. That changes free-listing quotas, the documents you have to supply and the buyer's rights.
This piece covers selling from the seller's side: the listing, the charging model, Przesyłka OLX, the deadlines and the payout. Every rule comes from OLX's own help centre.
How to start selling on OLX
The order matters, because each step is a condition for the next. Data verification, the step nobody talks about, holds up the money rather than the listing.
- Confirm the account with a phone number — without it the first listing will not go up.
- Declare in the Profile tab whether you sell privately or as a business.
- Fill in the payout details before you publish your first listing with delivery.
- Add the listing in a category where Przesyłka OLX is available.
- Pick the parcel size only after the item is actually packed.
Confirming the account by phone number
OLX requires the account to be confirmed by phone number for a first listing. That is a separate thing from verifying payout details.
The listing itself may wait a while for activation. OLX says that with thousands of listings published and edited daily, checking them all takes varying time.
Settle payout details before the first sale
Verification is run by the payment operator PayU, not by OLX. It normally takes five working days, provided the data is complete and correct.
A private seller supplies first a name, a date of birth and a Polish bank account number. Full verification, with a national ID number and an identity document, arrives at higher sale values.
A business seller supplies straight away a tax ID, a company name, an address and a business account. PayU verifies the seller against a record of the business, for example an extract from CEIDG.
Once verification is complete you cannot change who the payouts belong to. Neither the national ID number nor the tax ID can be updated afterwards, so settle the account status before the first sale.
A private account and a business account on OLX
On OLX the business status comes from a declaration the user makes after creating the account. OLX then displays the declared company details in every listing.
What the buyer sees
A business account shows a company-details section inside the listing. A private account has no such section.
The second difference is in the quotas. In OLX's table of free-listing limits a private user has an allowance in most subcategories, while a business user has zero in nearly all of them.
The right of withdrawal is not cosmetic
OLX puts it plainly: buying from a business user, a consumer may have a right to withdraw from the contract within at least 14 days of receiving the item.
Buying from a private user, there is no such right. A private seller does not have to accept a return without a stated reason.
Przesyłka OLX does not handle returns arising from withdrawal. The return method is then agreed directly between seller and buyer.
What OLX expects of a business seller
OLX collects those expectations in a separate article: giving the consumer information before the transaction, stating the right of withdrawal and supplying a model withdrawal form.
The same page notes what happens when that information is skipped. The withdrawal period then extends to 12 months from the end of the original one.
Whether your selling on OLX is business activity is settled outside the platform. That question belongs with your accountant, not with the site's terms.
How to add a listing that actually sells
The OLX form looks short, but a few fields settle things you cannot undo after publishing. Fill it in the order of consequences, not the order of the screen.
Category decides more than placement
The category determines whether Przesyłka OLX is available and which carriers you get. Some categories offer all of them, some only the DPD courier.
In Fashion, For Children and Music and Education, delivery attaches automatically. The exceptions include watches, jewellery, prams, child seats and instruments.
When delivery refuses to attach
OLX lists three reasons beyond the category itself: a price below 1 zloty or above 9,990 zloty, the "free" or "swap" parameter, and unverified selling data.
Delivery can also be switched on in bulk. Under Listings / Active, the Manage Przesyłka OLX button shows only the listings where it can be set at all.
Photos: limits and reasons for removal
Most categories take up to 8 photos, selected ones up to 12, and Accommodation up to 16. A single photo may not exceed 5 MB or 5,000 by 5,000 pixels.
OLX removes photos taken from the internet, photos showing something other than the listed item, and photos containing contact details such as a phone number.
Run time, and what happens after a sale
In most categories a listing runs for 30 days. Selected categories offer variants from 15 to 360 days.
After a Przesyłka OLX sale the listing does not end by itself. Ending it stays with you, and delivery itself drops off the listing after the first transaction.
What listing and selling actually cost
Four different charges sit side by side on OLX. The most common misreading is treating them as a single sales commission.
Free-listing quotas
Some subcategories give you an allowance of free listings that renews every 30 days. Deleting a listing before its run ends does not return the unit to the pool.
The limits table shows an asymmetry between the two statuses, though. For a business user the quota is zero in nearly every subcategory, so every publication there is paid.
"Pay if you sell"
This is a payment method where you do not pay for the run up front. OLX takes a percentage fee only after you confirm a sale with Przesyłka OLX.
If the listing expires without a sale, no charge arises. The option is available in some categories and additionally lets you add a logo and a banner to the listing.
It has one more operational effect. With multiple sales allowed, delivery does not drop off the listing after the first transaction, so identical items sell from one listing.
Who pays for carriage
Carriage is paid by the buyer, who sees the amount when choosing a delivery method. Rates depend on the carrier, the category and either a price band or the parcel size.
Current bands sit in the Przesyłka OLX price list. With InPost you can mark delivery free for the buyer — the cost is then deducted from your proceeds.
An invoice for OLX services is generated in the panel, in a browser, because the option does not work in the mobile app.
OLX also announces that once KSeF is in place, invoices for its services will be issued and available only in the National e-Invoicing System, leaving a transaction confirmation in the account.
Przesyłka OLX — how it works on the seller's side
This is the most important part of the subject and the hardest to reconstruct from what is written online. Przesyłka OLX is not just a label; it is how the transaction settles.
The buyer pays at the moment of purchase, and the payment operator secures the funds. That is why you never give out an account number or arrange a transfer.
Confirming the sale
When somebody buys your item you get an e-mail and an in-app notification. Under Your parcels / Selling you click Confirm sale.
At that point you fill in the details and pick a hand-in point. With the DPD courier you give your address plus a pickup date and time.
You can also reject the order. After confirming but before handing the parcel in, the shipment can still be cancelled — except for InPost courier shipments.
Label or hand-in code
The label is paper and has to be printed. The hand-in code is nine digits that you simply write in a visible place on the parcel.
Sending without a label works only with InPost and is chosen while confirming the sale. Such a parcel cannot go in over a counter, only into a parcel locker.
The decision is one-way. OLX states that once the label has been generated there is no technical way to send the parcel by code alone.
Parcel size: the one decision you cannot reverse
You pick the size when adding delivery to the listing, and once the label exists you cannot change it. What is left is cancelling the sale and asking the buyer to order again.
Maximum dimensions and weights differ between carriers. No label other than the Przesyłka OLX one may be on the parcel, so old markings have to come off.
Several items for one buyer
This is the most expensive mistake in this part of the process. Each order from a separate listing has its own label, and sending everything on one means being paid for one.
If you want to sell a set, add it in a single listing as one whole. You then get one label and the buyer pays for carriage once.
The deadlines that settle a transaction
Several clocks run at once inside Przesyłka OLX. The first two belong to you, and only those two can end a sale for good.
What happens when you miss one
Without confirmation within 72 hours the order cancels automatically. Without handing the parcel in within three working days the shipment is cancelled and the buyer is refunded.
On that second case OLX is unambiguous: passing that money to you will no longer be possible.
If the buyer does not collect the parcel in time, it returns to the hand-in point. The buyer is then refunded for the item, the carriage and the Protection Package.
How you receive the money
Money lands in the bank account given during data verification. The transfer starts after the buyer collects the parcel, not after you hand it in.
The statuses worth understanding
Under the Selling tab OLX shows four payout states. Each says something different about your money.
- Awaiting buyer confirmation — the 48-hour Protection Package window is running.
- Parcel collected, payment coming — the buyer confirmed receipt or 48 hours passed.
- Payment in progress — the transfer arrives within three working days.
- Payment on hold — the buyer raised a Protection Package claim.
When a payout stalls
Even after the item is collected, the payment operator can demand additional verification data. Payouts stay on hold until that process finishes.
The account number is filled in after the first Przesyłka OLX sale. Changing an e-mail address, a surname or an account number triggers re-verification, normally five working days.
Every shipment has an individual number, and that number appears in the transfer description. That is how you match an incoming payment to a specific sale.
A buyer's claim, and what happens after the transaction
The Protection Package covers every Przesyłka OLX order. It cuts both ways, so its deadlines are worth knowing from your side too.
What a buyer can claim
The scope is narrow: an item that does not match the listing, is damaged, incomplete or not working, or an empty parcel. A change of mind and "I do not like it" are not covered.
The buyer has 48 hours from collection to raise a claim. No reaction from you, or a rejected request, within the next 48 hours moves the case to the OLX team.
How you answer a claim
From the moment the case reaches OLX you have 120 hours to send your account, photos of the parcel and the item, and screenshots of the conversation.
OLX recommends taking photos or a video before sending. A claim is settled within 30 days at most, usually sooner.
Where a claim is upheld, the seller pays for the return shipment. You can also use the option of waiving payment and leaving the item with the buyer.
Safety: what to watch for in delivery and payment
The Przesyłka OLX model closes several common fraud scenarios by itself. The rest depends on whether the transaction runs through that model at all.
What OLX never does
OLX does not generate links for paying for a Przesyłka OLX purchase. Any such link received outside the service is a scam — that is how the OLX Help Centre describes it.
OLX also runs no lotteries and sends no text messages with a link for renewing a listing. Renewal works only through the button visible after logging in.
Requests that make no sense in this model
A buyer does not need your e-mail address in order to buy with Przesyłka OLX. Nor does a buyer need your instant-payment handle or a verification transfer.
The only verification transfer in this process is the one you make, to the payment operator, from your own account. A buyer never makes it and nobody asks for it in messages.
A photo of an identity document sent "for trust" confirms nothing. OLX points out that fraudsters use documents phished earlier from other people.
Selling outside Przesyłka OLX
You can still sell with your own shipping or collection in person. None of the three mechanisms in the figure above applies then.
For collection in person OLX recommends meeting in a public place, handing money over only after checking the item, and no deposits or advance transfers.
OLX alongside other sales channels
For a company OLX is rarely the only channel. It usually sits next to a shop and next to marketplaces, and that brings a different kind of work.
The left column is what you do not have to build. The right one grows with every additional channel, because the same goods and the same stock have to hold in several places.

A checklist before your first listing
The order below is resistant to the most common mistakes, because each point closes the condition for the next.
Nine things to check before publishing
- Confirm the account with a phone number.
- Declare in Profile whether you sell privately or as a business — that decision cannot be reversed after verification.
- Fill in payout details and allow five working days for verification.
- Check the free-listing quota in your subcategory and the price list for that category.
- Choose the category for Przesyłka OLX availability and the carrier list.
- Pack the item, measure the parcel, and only then pick the size.
- Photograph the item before packing it — the photos help with any claim.
- Selling as a business, prepare the withdrawal notice and the model form.
- Put two deadlines in the calendar: 72 hours to confirm and three working days to hand in.
Point two is the only one you cannot correct later in the panel. The rest can be caught up on, except that each catch-up usually costs one sale.
