How to connect a cash register to easySales: the easySales Fiscal app, test receipt and cash register operations

How to connect a cash register to easySales: the easySales Fiscal app, test receipt and cash register operations

A small desktop app sits between easySales and your cash register. Install it on the computer at the counter, link it with two tokens, and you can print receipts, run X and Z reports and record cash deposits and withdrawals from easySales — with each X and Z report archived as a PDF next to the action that produced it.

easySales does not talk to your cash register directly. A small desktop app — the easySales Fiscal app — runs on the computer the register is attached to, picks up work from easySales and drives the device. Once that link is in place, receipts print at the counter and the cashier can run X and Z reports and record cash movements without leaving easySales.

This guide covers the whole chain: adding the register, installing and connecting the app, proving it works with a test receipt, and then the four operations you get out of it.

What the easySales Fiscal app does

Three pieces have to line up, in this order:

  • easySales creates the work — a receipt to print, an X report to run, a cash deposit to record.
  • The easySales Fiscal app runs on the computer at the counter. It checks easySales on its polling interval, takes whatever is waiting, and sends it to the register.
  • The cash register prints and, for fiscal documents, records the amounts in its own fiscal memory.

The app also reports back what it can do. easySales only offers the operations the installed version supports, so an out-of-date app shows greyed-out buttons rather than failing halfway through.

Before you start

You need the Physical store module active — from the sidebar, open Account → Settings, then the Modules tab, and switch on Physical store. You also need the billing-software and printer permissions to reach the setup screens, and a computer at the counter that stays on during opening hours with the register connected to it. That computer has to run Windows — the easySales Fiscal app is published for Windows only.

Step 1: add the cash register in easySales

From the sidebar, go to Integrations → Printers and open EasySales Fiscal. This is where the register is registered and where the app is downloaded.

Both printer integrations carry a Beta badge in that list, and the app explains why on hover: "This integration is in Beta version. You may encounter some technical issues. We recommend that you test this integration carefully and give us your feedback." Worth taking at face value — walk the whole chain before your first trading day, which is what the test receipt in Step 3 is for.

Integrations → Printers → EasySales Fiscal: the app downloads on the left, the register settings and tokens on the right.

Fill in the fields on the right:

  • Printer name — how the register appears in dropdowns across easySales. Give it something a cashier would recognise if you ever run two.
  • Evidence currency — the currency the register keeps its records in. Cash deposits and withdrawals are denominated in it, so it has to match the device.
  • Polling interval — how often the app checks easySales for new work. Shorter means receipts appear faster at the counter.
  • Allow print document multiple times — leave it off unless you have a reason. It is the guard against printing the same document twice.

Saving gives you two tokens, Application token and Printer token, each with a copy button. You need both in the next step.

Step 2: install the easySales Fiscal app and connect it

On the same page, the left column lists the released versions, newest first, each with its Windows x64 build. Take the newest one and install it on the computer at the counter.

Open the app and paste the Application token — that links the app to your easySales account. Then paste the Printer token to bind it to this specific register. From then on the app sits in the background and works through whatever easySales queues.

Back in easySales, the register shows as Connected once the app has checked in. Until it does, cash register operations stay unavailable.

Step 3: send a test receipt

Before the first real sale, prove the chain end to end. From the sidebar go to Physical store → Store settings and, on the Cash register card, hit Print a test receipt.

The Test receipt modal in easySales with the checklist to run through before sending a test print
The test receipt modal opens with the checklist; the three stages appear once it is on its way.

The modal opens with a short checklist — the app running and showing your printer as connected, the register on with paper and its cable in place. Send from there and it tracks three stages, so a failure tells you where it stopped:

  1. Sent to the easySales Fiscal app
  2. Picked up by the app (the agent on your computer)
  3. Test receipt printed on the register

If it stalls, the modal says The easySales Fiscal app is not responding. and suggests checking that the app is open and connected to the internet before trying again. That usually means the app is closed, the computer is asleep, or the register is off or out of paper.

The four cash register operations

From the sidebar, go to Physical store → Cash register operations. Four actions sit at the top of the page.

The four cash register actions in easySales: X report, Z report, cash deposit and cash withdrawal
The four operations, one click away from the counter.
Operation What the register does Closes the fiscal day Archived PDF Permission
Cash deposit Prints a non-fiscal note for the amount you put in No No Cash register operations
Cash withdrawal Prints a non-fiscal note for the amount you take out No No Cash register operations
X report Prints a verification report of the day so far No Yes Cash register operations
Z report Prints the day close and reports it to the tax authority itself Yes — cannot be undone Yes Close the fiscal day
Listed in the order the buttons appear on the page. Only the two reports keep a PDF in the history.

Cash deposit and Cash withdrawal ask for an amount and make the register print a non-fiscal note for it. The amount is in the register's evidence currency, and the minimum is 0.01.

X report is the safe one — a verification read of the day so far that leaves the fiscal day open. Run it as often as you like.

Z report closes the fiscal day. Because that is a legally significant act, it takes an extra confirmation: a dialog titled Close the fiscal day (Z report) warns that the register prints the report and reports it automatically to the tax authority, and that the action cannot be undone. It also needs its own permission, and there is no setting anywhere that triggers it automatically.

When an action is greyed out

Each button carries a tooltip explaining why it is unavailable:

  • No connected fiscal printer found. Connect the easySales Fiscal app to use cash register operations. — nothing has checked in yet.
  • The easySales Fiscal app on this computer does not support cash register operations yet. Please update it to the latest version. — the app is older than the operation you are trying to run.
  • You do not have permission for this operation. — see the permissions section below.

One more rule: only one operation runs at a time per register. Start a second while the first is still in flight and easySales answers Another cash register operation is already in progress for this printer.

The operations history

Everything you run is listed below the actions, under Operations history, filterable by period — Today, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, All time — and by operation type.

The operations history in easySales showing operation type, amount, user, status and the archived report PDF
Every operation keeps its status; the two report types also keep a downloadable PDF. Filterable by period and by type.

Each row shows the date, the operation, the amount (deposits in green with a plus, withdrawals in red with a minus; X and Z rows show the register's sales total instead), the User who ran it, and the status.

Status moves through Sent to printer and Picked up by the app to a wording that matches what actually happened — Printed for an X report, Printed · reported to the tax authority for a Z, Non-fiscal printed for a cash movement — or Failed.

The last column holds the report itself. X and Z reports archive a PDF you can View or Download at any time afterwards. Cash movements show a dash there — the amount is recorded in easySales, but the only printout is the non-fiscal note the register produced at the time. Test receipts are kept out of this history entirely.

Who can do what

Two sub-account permissions split the cash drawer from the fiscal day:

  • Cash register operations (X report, cash in/out) — the everyday cashier actions.
  • Close the fiscal day (Z report) — deliberately separate, so closing the day can stay with a manager.

Reading the page needs neither; both are checked when an action is dispatched, in the interface and again on the server.

Frequently asked questions

Hover one and the tooltip tells you which of three things is missing. "No connected fiscal printer found" means the easySales Fiscal app has not checked in yet — open it on the computer at the counter and confirm the register shows as connected. "The easySales Fiscal app on this computer does not support cash register operations yet" means the installed version is older than the operation; install the latest build from Integrations → Printers. "You do not have permission for this operation" means your sub-account is missing either the cash register or the fiscal day permission.

No. It prints a non-fiscal note, leaves the register's fiscal totals untouched and is not recorded in the operations history. That is the point of it — you can run it freely while setting up, or later to check the chain still works, without anything to account for afterwards.

Because easySales only knows about operations it started. Reports and cash movements keyed directly into the register live in the device and never travel back. If you want the history in easySales — and the archived PDFs with it — start the operation from Physical store → Cash register operations rather than on the device.

No, not on the same register. Start a second while one is still in flight and easySales answers "Another cash register operation is already in progress for this printer." Wait for the first to finish — the status in the history tells you where it is.

The register's Evidence currency, set on its page under Integrations → Printers. The amount field shows that currency next to it, and the minimum is 0.01. If the field does not match a currency easySales knows, the operation is refused with "The fiscal printer evidence currency is not configured."

Only someone with the Close the fiscal day (Z report) permission, which is deliberately separate from the everyday Cash register operations permission — so cashiers can take deposits and run X reports while closing the day stays with a manager. The Z report also needs an explicit confirmation in the dialog, and nothing in easySales triggers it automatically.

In the Report column of the operations history, on the row for that action — X and Z reports offer View and Download there, and the PDF stays available afterwards. Cash deposits and withdrawals show a dash instead: the amount is recorded in easySales, but their only printout is the non-fiscal note the register produced at the time. Filter the history by period or by operation type to find an older row.
