How to connect eBay with easySales: a complete setup guide
Connect eBay to easySales: authenticating instead of entering a password, the business policies eBay must have first, the inventory location, why the SKU decides whether an offer can be created, and what each eBay refusal means.
What connecting eBay gives you
With eBay connected, easySales lists your products on eBay, keeps their prices and stock in step, brings the orders into easySales and lets you invoice and ship them alongside every other channel you sell on.
eBay works differently from most marketplaces in two ways, and both of them shape this guide. You never type a password — the connection is made by signing in to eBay itself. And every listing eBay manages for you is identified by its SKU, which turns the SKU on your products into the thing that decides whether an offer can be created at all.
Before you start
An eBay seller account
Nothing else: the connection is made by signing in to eBay, so there is no API key to request and no password to store in easySales.
Business policies created in eBay
A payment, a shipping and a return policy, under My account → Business policies. easySales reads them from your account but cannot create them, and they are per eBay site.
A SKU on every product you want to list
eBay identifies listings by SKU. It may contain only letters, digits and | _ + . - — no spaces, no slashes. A product without one cannot be listed.
Somewhere to ship from
An inventory location, which you create on the connection's own Inventory location tab. eBay uses it to work out shipping cost and delivery time.
Step 1 — Pick the eBay card
Go to Integrations → Marketplace and search for ebay.
Step 2 — Authenticate with eBay
The first screen of an eBay card has nothing to fill in.
Press Authenticate with Ebay, sign in with your eBay account and confirm the access easySales asks for. eBay sends you back, the connection is created, and the rest of the form appears.
Step 3 — The connection settings
| Field | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Connection Name | Your own name for the connection. It never reaches eBay, and it is what you pick from in the offers and products screens — worth setting when you sell on more than one eBay site. |
| New order custom status | Optional. A status of your own given to every imported eBay order on top of the standard one. |
| Price Addition | A percentage added to the sale price for new offers only. A 100 EUR product with a 10% addition is listed at 110 EUR. Existing offers keep their price; price rules cover those. |
| Default shipping tax | The VAT rate applied to the shipping line on imported orders. |
| Default Tax Rate | The VAT rate applied to the products you list, used when the product carries no rate of its own. |
| Invoice Series | The billing series used when an invoice is generated for an eBay order. |
Step 4 — Condition, policies and merchant location
| Field | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Condition |
eBay's own condition list — NEW, LIKE_NEW, NEW_OTHER, the refurbished grades, USED_GOOD and so on. It is applied to the offers created on this connection.
|
| Payment policy | Which of your eBay payment business policies the listings use. Created in eBay, not here. |
| Shipping policy | Which eBay fulfilment policy applies — delivery services, handling time and shipping cost. |
| Return policy | Which eBay return policy applies — whether returns are accepted, for how long and who pays. |
| Merchant location | The stock location the listing ships from. Chosen from the locations on the Inventory location tab. |
Step 5 — The inventory location
Merchant location is where eBay believes the goods are, and it is what the shipping cost and delivery estimate on your listings are calculated from. The Inventory location tab next to Main settings is where you create one.
Press Add, then fill in a name, a description, the street, city and country. The name matters: it is what eBay shows and what it checks.
Step 6 — Offer options
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Send offers with stock 1 | Lists products whose stock is exactly 1. Off by default, because a single unit that sells elsewhere first is the usual cause of an oversell. |
| Send notification to customer that invoice was issued | Tells the buyer through eBay that their invoice has been issued, as soon as easySales generates it. |
| Send offer brand as characteristic |
Sends the product's brand as the Brand item specific. Worth having on — Das Artikelmerkmal Marke fehlt (the Brand item specific is missing) is one of eBay's most frequent refusals.
|
| Automatically enable offers when products have stock | When a product goes from zero back into stock, its offer is switched on again by itself. |
Step 7 — Listings you already had on eBay
If you were selling on eBay before easySales, some of those listings may have no SKU, and eBay's current interface cannot manage a listing without one. The migration block deals with that.
Step 8 — Categories, SKUs and your first offers
Map your categories under Online Shop → Categories first: an offer whose category has no eBay category behind it is stopped before it is sent.
Then check your SKUs.
For products that are not on eBay yet, go to Online Shop → Products.
Then use Add offer on the products you want to list. Existing eBay offers are imported into Marketplace → Offers on the eBay tab, where you link each one to its product so prices and stock start syncing.
When an offer is refused
The Errors column on the offers list holds the reason. Some are checked in easySales before anything is sent; the rest are eBay's own words, passed through unchanged.
| Error | What to do |
|---|---|
1707 Invalid sku
|
The SKU is missing, or contains a character other than a letter, a digit or | _ + . -. Correct it on the product.
|
1704 Missing category mapping
|
The product's category has no eBay category mapped to it. Map it under Online Shop → Categories. |
1705 Mandatory characteristics missing
|
The eBay category requires item specifics the offer does not have. Add them to the category mapping or to the offer. |
1703 Missing product images / 1702 Invalid images data
|
The product has no usable image. eBay will not publish a listing without one. |
1701 Invalid product price
|
The sale price is below the minimum. Check the price and the price addition. |
1700 Missing product name
|
Fill the name in on the product. |
| What eBay says | What to do |
|---|---|
The item specific Brand is missing (and Type, Model, Colour, Department…)
|
The eBay category requires that attribute. Add it to the category mapping so it covers everything in that category. Turning on Send offer brand as characteristic solves the Brand case on its own. |
imageUrls cannot be null or empty
|
The offer arrived at eBay with no image. Check the product's images and that images is one of the fields the offer copies from it.
|
The field EAN is missing
|
eBay requires an EAN in that category. Fill it in on the product, or use the category's exemption value if you have one from eBay. |
You have reached your monthly selling limit / This listing would exceed your limit
|
An eBay account limit, not an easySales one. Ask eBay to raise it from the link in their message. |
Invalid inventory location
|
The location the listing points at is not one eBay considers complete — usually one created outside easySales with no name. Create it on the Inventory location tab and select it under Merchant location. |
The quantity must be a valid number greater than 0
|
The offer has no stock to publish. |
Cannot revise listing … may contain inappropriate words or violates eBay policy
|
eBay is refusing the listing itself, often pending account verification. It is settled with eBay. |
